Exercising with arthritis

Having been diagnosed with the onset of arthritis I was concerned that it might stop me from beginning an exercise program.   Rather the opposite is the case and exercise is encouraged for those suffering with arthritis. For my cardio I find brisk walking and using an exercise bike to be both comfortable and the most benefit to me. weight training without discomfort was a harder struggle until I found this article from The Arthritis Association of America weight lifting with arthritis For those with arthritic knees I have found these exercises to be helpful  exercises for arthritic knees Make sure to check with your health care professional before starting any exercise program. Five ways to fit in exercise

Yes I know that elephant in the get fit and healthy room....exercise but did you know that you are probably exercising and don't know it,  yep it's true all that daily activity counts towards exercise,  now doesn't that sound good? here are just 5 ways to fit exercise into your day. 1.  housework,  yes it counts.  vacuuming and picking stuff off the floor are especially beneficial. 2.  if your watching a short youtube video or a video on a favourite blog why not use that time to do some squats. 3.  jog on the spot while waiting for the microwave or the kettle to boil 4.  when shopping leave your cart at the end of the aisle and walk to pick up the items then back to your cart. 5.  hanging out the washing,  all that bending and stretching is good for your core. there are lots more ways you can fit exercise into your day,  how many can you think of? The Reality

The reality is that today hasn't gone as well as I wanted..... first I ate chocolate,  a lot of chocolate, skipped meals and basically picked all day....hmmm however looking back over the day I did do some gardening, mopped the kitchen floor as well as do some toning exercises so all was not lost. usually I would just focus on the negative but not any more! Hello and welcome I'm Dellene and it's so good to have you here :) I'm a 53 year old  Australian woman living in Melbourne, I have two grown up children and have just returned to full time study. the return to study is part of my happy, healthy new me makeover. Happiness has come frequently throughout my life but the healthy part has not been that  frequent. if I'm honest not since early high school. in my late teens I developed an unhealthy and destructive relationship with alcohol which lasted until I became sober in january 2017 at the age of 51. Once I stopped drinking I thought I was on my way to good health and at first I was but then I started to replace the drink with unhealthy eating, and  my exercise routine became non existent.  as a result I  have developed many health problems mostly gastric and intestinal related,  I recently had surgery to remove my gallbladder and part of my liver. though I've recovered from the operation my healt...
